Count your calories! Simply by adding up your calorie counts for your macronutrients is a great start to get control of the amount you are eating.
Get control of your bad habits if you want to make a change and lose weight. It does not take much. Be consistent and track your calories and progress.
If you are trying to lose weight, maintain weight or gain weight? It all starts with calorie counting and getting the appropriate amount of macros. Counting your carbs, proteins and fats is key to your lifestyle, fitness program and overall health. Most people do not know how many grams of fats, carbs or protein they are consuming per meal.

Many people these days, go for the temporary fix, fad diets, crash dieting and such. The key is to maintain and build muscle with the right amount of macros for your body to speed up your metabolism. Gain more muscle, drop bodyfat, creates a better metabolism. Example: If 2,000 calories is your amount of calories just to maintain your current weight and your goal is to lose fat, then you must eat lesser calories than the 2,000 count. If you are interested in gaining muscle you must eat more as you resistance train and go above the 2,000 calorie mark.

I cannot even count the amount of clients I have had over the years, that eat way too little, starving themselves with under 1,000 calories a day. You not only are starving yourself but most likely throwing your metabolism in a frenzy, yo yo dieting. Your body will shut down and hold onto the weight, thinking it is in starvation mode. This is not healthy and you are taking the chance of losing hard earned muscle or muscle in general.

Depending on your activity level, you have to find the right amount to eat, whether to lose fat, gain muscle or simply maintain. Making simple changes can make a big difference in your overall health.
